RELAX… You’re in great hands!
Even the most fearful patient can “snooze” through complicated care with
complete comfort and relaxation.
Nearly 50% of the population feels nervous or uncomfortable about having
dental procedures done. Dr. Nevein Amer and her team have dedicated themselves to making patients comfortable and
at ease during dental exams and procedures. With Conscious
Oral Sedation Dentistry, we can treat patients who desperately need dental
work but are too afraid to seek care.
In an open and caring
atmosphere patients can receive pain free dental care while knowing they are not
being judged or looked down on over their anxiety or fear. We
strive to excel at the technical aspects of dentistry, but just as important, we
strive to care for the patient’s emotional needs. There will be times that just
getting through the door for a consultation will be a small victory for some patients. We know the importance of that first step and we are committed to
providing compassion and starting a relationship built on trust. We take your
fear seriously and are dedicated to providing a dental experience that will both
improve your dental health and lessen your dental fears.
What you can expect from Conscious
Oral Sedation Dentistry
- It is safe! Dr. Amer will give you a small pill prior to treatment. No intravenous tubes or
needles.
- You will be sedated
just enough to be unaware of the treatment, as if you were relaxing. Dr.
Amer
will give you a small pill to take an hour prior to your dental appointment.
Your companion will accompany you to and from the office. By the time you
arrive, you will be very drowsy.
- It Really Works! You
really can relax through your dental appointment. You will have little or no
memory of the experience. You probably will not remember any sounds or smells.
Most patients remember nothing about their treatment. A few will remember a
little, usually at the end of their appointment when we are getting them ready
to go home.
- People who have
difficulty getting numb will find that sedation dentistry eliminates this problem.
- Sedation dentistry is
a safe way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental treatment requiring long
visits.
FAQ - Sedation Therapy
- Will I feel any pain? No. You will feel nothing.
- Will I be unconscious? No. You will be in a deeply relaxed state and you will be
responsive.
- Will I be monitored? Yes. One of our team members is always with you and your
vital signs are monitored during the entire visit. You are never alone. The
reason that we use oral sedation is because of its safety. We use monitoring
equipment to monitor your pulse and blood pressure. You will be done before you
know it, completely unaware of the time passing and totally relaxed.
- How long will I be relaxing? Depending on your needs, you will be in a relaxed state
anywhere from two to six hours.
- Will someone need to accompany me to the appointment? Yes. Due to the sedative effects of the medication, you
will need someone to drive you to our office and home again.
